The late collagist Romare Bearden is my favorite artist. Following his work has inspired me to embrace his signature medium of collage. I find that collage and musical composition are closely related. The fragmented images and shapes of collage suggest movement, even rhythm, and adding color adds even more of a musical element like melody and harmony to the work.
